Farmers protesting against new agriculture laws in India are set to restart their march to Delhi amid tight security measures. The farmers, primarily from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting on the outskirts of Delhi for over two months now, demanding the repeal of the laws which they fear will hurt their livelihoods.

The march to Delhi was initially planned for November, but was postponed due to clashes with police and concerns over the spreading of COVID-19. Now, the farmers have announced that they will resume their march on January 26, India’s Republic Day.

Authorities have deployed thousands of security personnel along the route to prevent any clashes and maintain law and order. The farmers, however, have vowed to continue their protest peacefully and with determination.

The agriculture laws, which were passed in September last year, aim to liberalize the farming sector in India by allowing farmers to sell their produce directly to private buyers and enter into contract farming agreements. However, the farmers believe that these laws will leave them at the mercy of big corporations and threaten their traditional way of life.

The farmers’ protest has garnered widespread support from various sections of society, including politicians, celebrities, and activists. The protest has also drawn international attention, with several countries expressing concern over the treatment of the farmers and urging the Indian government to engage in dialogue with them to find a peaceful resolution.

As the farmers gear up for their march to Delhi, the world watches on, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis and a just outcome for the farmers who are fighting for their rights and livelihoods.
