Navalny’s widow urges Russians to protest on election day

Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has called on Russians to protest on election day to demand fair elections and show their support for democracy.

In a statement released on social media, Navalnaya urged citizens to exercise their right to peaceful protest and stand up against corruption and the suppression of political dissent.

“It is important for all of us to make our voices heard and demand transparency and fairness in the electoral process,” Navalnaya said. “We must not let our voices be silenced or our votes be manipulated.”

Navalny, a vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was arrested in January upon his return to Russia from Germany, where he was recovering from a poisoning attack that he blames on the Russian government. His arrest sparked widespread protests across the country, leading to a violent crackdown by Russian authorities.

Despite the risks of participating in protests, Navalnaya stressed the importance of standing up for what is right and holding the government accountable.

“We must show the world that the Russian people are not afraid to fight for their rights and demand a better future for themselves and their children,” Navalnaya said. “Let us come together on election day and make our voices heard.”
